When to Spay/Neuter Your Dog?

Most vets are trained to encourage Spay or Neuter at 6 months or before the dog has a release of his and her reproductive hormones.  Over the past 5 years, strong voices in the community have come forward to state this is harmful to our pet's long term health.  The decision is a personal one.

The intact dog or bitch requires extra management.  Knowing all sides of the issue may help you decide.  Waiting until the puppy is 18 months, at least gives the bone structure the benefit of the hormones needed for healthy growth.
